A renewable energy project that delivers clean energy and enhances biodiversity
A collaboration with local landowners and council, Ford Oaks Solar Park will generate 37.9 GWh of renewable energy annually, powering 10,000+ homes and offsetting 6,000+ tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year. The approved scheme, located next to the A30 near Exeter Airport and just four miles east of Exeter city centre, will span 143 acres. Construction on-site started in July 2025 and is expected to start producing energy by 2026.
Ford Oaks is aligned with the Devon County Green Infrastructure Strategy, the Devon Climate Declaration to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, and the UK Government’s target to increase solar capacity to 45-47GW by 2030. In addition to clean energy, the project will deliver around 111 acres of green infrastructure improvements, including tree and hedgerow planting, wildflower meadows, enhanced wetlands, new woodland, bird hides, and a community area, creating habitats for pollinators and reducing flooding risks. As such, the project is forecast to achieve a biodiversity net gain (BNG) of 121%, far exceeding the national target of at least 10%. It will also be the first solar park in the UK to apply for Building with Nature accreditation, setting a new benchmark for sustainably developed solar energy.
It’s a project with measurable commitments that ensure Kajima Partnerships and our partners make a difference locally and globally.
Ford Oaks was sold at ‘Ready to Build’ stage in 2024 to Infinis Solar Developments Limited.
