133 MW of new photovoltaic capacity will support Europe’s energy transition and strengthen Poland’s energy security
PAD RES, a leading Polish renewable energy developer and investor, majority-owned by Kajima Partnerships and Griffin Capital Partners, has commenced construction of three large-scale photovoltaic (PV) farms with a combined installed capacity of 133 MW. The projects are located in Krapkowice and Strzelce Opolskie in the Opole Voivodeship, and Gromadka in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
Together, the three PV farms will generate enough clean electricity to meet the annual needs of approximately 47,000 households, making a meaningful contribution to Poland’s renewable energy capacity and wider European energy resilience.
The largest development is the Krapkowice PV farm, with an installed capacity of 90 MW and an expected annual energy output of around 95,000 MWh. It will be accompanied by the Strzelce Opolskie PV farm, with a capacity of 18 MW and expected to produce approximately 19,000 MWh per year.
For both Opole Voivodeship projects, PAD RES has appointed Electrum as the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contractor, continuing a long-standing and successful partnership in renewable energy development.
The third project, the 25 MW Gromadka PV farm in Lower Silesia, is expected to generate more than 26,000 MWh annually. EPC delivery for this site will be led by Inplag, marking the beginning of a new strategic collaboration and supporting PAD RES’s approach to contractor diversification for projects of this scale.
In total, the three solar installations will occupy approximately 142 hectares.
Commenting on the milestone, Chris Gill, Managing Director of Kajima Partnerships, commented: “Delivering the transition to renewable energy requires both momentum and sustained investment. It is encouraging to see work begin on these large-scale projects, which underline our commitment to sustainable energy production in Europe and our confidence in Poland as a strategic long-term market—particularly at a time when energy security is critically important.”
Wojciech Jasiński, Director of Construction at PAD RES, said: “The implementation of three photovoltaic farms with a combined capacity of 133 MW forms part of our long-term investment strategy and requires a carefully selected contractor base. By continuing our cooperation with Electrum while also beginning a new partnership with Inplag, we can effectively manage projects of this scale. These investments will significantly increase the volume of green energy in the system.”
